This elegant bow-fronted single-door vintage wardrobe by Chancellor features a softly arched top and beautifully expressive walnut grain, making it a striking yet refined storage piece.
The wardrobe has been fully stripped to reveal the exceptional burr walnut veneer and finished with a satin hard wax oil, enhancing the depth and warmth of the natural grain. The bookmatched door forms a dramatic focal point, framed by contrasting hand-painted edges in “Jet Black” Wise Owl One Hour Enamel, chosen for its smooth, durable finish and crisp architectural definition.
The original hardware has been carefully cleaned and subtly highlighted with gold gilt to bring out its intricate detailing. The push-button catch is fully functional, although there is no key. The gently curved door opens smoothly to reveal a practical interior comprising one fixed shelf and a hanging rail running from front to back, making it ideal for everyday clothing or elegant storage.
Internally, the wood has been treated with a restorative furniture salve to revive and nourish the timber while preserving its vintage character.
Finished with a matt black top and base plinth, this wardrobe strikes a perfect balance between warmth and drama. Its compact footprint makes it well suited to a bedroom, guest room, dressing area or as a statement hallway cupboard.
There are minor historic signs of woodworm, which have been professionally treated, along with a few small age-related imperfections. These are minimal, barely noticeable, and do not detract from the overall appearance or structural integrity of the piece.

Nationwide delivery is available.
We arrange delivery with one of our trusted furniture couriers - this will generally be a one-man service and help will be needed to unload the item at the buyer’s home. If a two-man service is required there may be an extra charge.
We charge a flat rate of £60 for delivery to mainland UK. For Highlands, Islands and Ireland, please contact us for an accurate quote prior to purchase.
Collection is also welcome near Reading. For smaller items we send via an insured postal courier.
